What We Offer

We know that it’s not a one size fits all when it comes to looking after ourselves and that we can benefit from different ways of looking after our wellbeing at different times in our lives, we aim to offer a wide range of wellbeing practices.

One of the things we love about The Wee Retreat is receiving a request from a teacher wishing to bring a new modality to the mix so keep an eye on our website and social media as there are always new offerings popping up!

Mindfulness Meditation

Mindfulness is about being present in our everyday lives, noticing what is happening around us. The chance to sit and be in the present moment. A mindfulness meditation practise will enable you to move away from the habit of getting lost in busy days, consumed by a to-do and should do list, lost in the tangle of thoughts in your head and missing out on what is happening around you.
The more that we pause and bring ourselves back to the present moment, the more we benefit. The less time we spend worrying or running around like crazy or listening to every single thought in our head, we can begin to see more joy around us in the little and the big things.

Vicky, the founder of The Wee Retreat, runs regular meditation sessions as well as mindfulness courses to suit beginners and experienced practitioners.

Yoga

An ancient and comprehensive system of self-improvement, self-knowledge and better health. While there are many different schools and traditions of yoga the focus of most is on bringing together mind, body and breath.
In the Western world and for our purposes the term yoga is used to describe a system of posture-based physical movements and relaxation techniques.

We have yoga on at our studios 7 days a week with styles including Hatha, Vinyasa, Kundalini, Ashtanga, Seasonal and Yin.

Pilates

A system of controlled movements to strengthen the core muscles from pubic bone to breastbone and all around the buttocks lengthening, strengthening, and stretching tight areas and opening the body up.

Pilates exercises can be modified from beginner to advanced and intensity can be increased as the body adapts to these exercises.

Sound Healing

Using music or sound to bring you into a meditative state where you look in and experience how you are feeling in the moment. Sound healing can also help shift emotions and energies within you.

Lie down, get comfortable and create yourself a safe space. Experience how the sounds feel within your body. You might experience deep emotion, a journey, a tingling sensation, or a deep sense of peace.

Writing and Poetry

Relaxed Creative Writing workshops to help you explore how to incorporate the seasons into your daily life. Writing and journaling is a powerful way to learn about yourself and these workshops can offer many of the benefits of self-reflective writing. Our studio coordinator Scott, regularly runs these events with his theatre company Stravaig Theatre.

We also host poetry workshops and shares. We were thrilled to be able to host the launch event for Glasgow City of Poets, fascilitated by Los Angeles Poet Laureate Anne Sikking. Words and poetry can help us reflect on our emotions and out state of mindfulness.
