For the Community

The way we do business is very important to us. That’s why we’re a social enterprise. Officially, we’re The Wee Retreat CIC. CIC stands for Community Interest Company.

CICs use their profits and assets for the public good. We run our business to make a profit, which we then use to help us meet our social and community aims. So the more money we make, the more good we’re able to do.

Our social mission is to create a culture where self-care is considered as normal as brushing your teeth. We believe that if we all look after ourselves properly, we’ll all be happier as a result and the world will be a happier place.

We aim to achieve this by:

  • Making Wee Retreats as accessible as possible.
  • Partnering with organisations that work with vulnerable people to help them support the wellbeing of their communities.
  • Educating people in the importance of self-care.
  • Reducing barriers to self-care.

Time for You

Time for You is the cornerstone of our social enterprise work. Individuals who would otherwise face barriers in attending The Wee Retreat classes and courses are able to access an online library of recorded wellbeing classes and various live events, classes, and courses.

We work with a variety of third sector organisations to identify and support individuals to sign up and begin using the service.  If you are an organisation or individual who would like more information please get in touch.

Buy-1-Give-1

Organisations that enrol on our Wellbeing at Work programme can help us achieve our social mission through our Buy-1-Give-1 scheme. This service enables us to support organisations that want to improve the wellbeing of their staff but lack the resources to do so. If you’d like to participate as a donor or recipient, please get in touch.

Free Studio Spaces

The Wee Retreat are proud to offer members of the community free studio spaces to host any kind of community-centred event. If you’re hosting a free event and looking for a space then get in touch.

Southside Wellbeing Festival

In 2022, we helped to bring wellbeing to a great number of people in our local community as part of the first ever Southside Wellbeing Festival. This was made possible by help from fellow community organisations – Finn’s Place and The Southside Fringe. We were grateful to be able to run this festival thanks to a grant from the Glasgow Community and Mental Health Fund.

The Festival was a grand success and helped us get closer to achieving our goals.

In September 2023, we were thrilled to bring it back for its second year. We had twice as many venues with a lot more people getting involved. It’s hoped we can keep this running year after year.

If you’re interested in taking part or working with us for next year’s festival then get in touch.

Pay It Forward

In 2023, we introduced our Pay it Forward scheme across all our regular weekly classes. Pay it Forward allows you to contribute towards a spot for someone not in a position to purchase a place for themselves.

Every time someone books a Pay it Forward place, £4 will go into our Pay it Forward pot and will contribute to funding a place for someone else. Simply select the Pay it Forward option when booking your class on our website -it’s that simple.

For anyone wishing to use a Pay it Forward place, simply email us and let us know which class you would like to attend and we will get you booked on for free- no questions asked.

Things to note-

Pay it Forward places are available for all our regular weekly classes- online & in studio. Courses, workshops & retreats are not included in the scheme at this time.

The number of classes funded relates directly to the number of “Pay it Forward” tickets purchased. Therefore, access to a free place is dependent on how much is in the pot… should we need to, we will operate a waitlist for places until funds meet the demand.
