Community Interest Company
The way we do business is very important to us which is why we set ourselves up as a social enterprise. Officially, we are in the process of registering The Wee Retreat as a Community Interest Company (CIC).
CICs are designed for social enterprises that want to use their profits and assets for the public good. We run our business to make a profit which we can then use to help us meet our social & community aims. To put it bluntly, doing business this way means that the more money we make, the more good we can do.
Our community aims are:
- to provide a space for health and well-being courses, retreats and events and
- to provide work opportunities for people who find it difficult to work under general employment conditions; for example stay-at-home parents, people who have retired or those who have left school with little or no qualifications.
We are always keen to work with other organisations and hear from people who can help us meet our community aims.
We are currently raising money for and looking for suitable premises to give The Wee Retreat a home. This will allow us to offer many more courses and retreats and provide many more work opportunities for people that have something to offer.
